appoints new Head of Public Sector
Alliance and Leicester Commercial Bank (ALCB) has appointed Alex Smith as its new Head of Public Sector.
He will manage a team of nine professionals dedicated to providing banking and financing solutions to the sector Alex will be responsible for the bank's financing and banking services to local authorities, housing associations, the NHS, the education sector and charities

He will be based in Manchester, at Alliance and Leicester's offices at 298 Deansgate and will report to Karen Woods, Director of Relationship Banking.
Since joining the Bank as a graduate trainee, Alex has held a range of relationship management roles for businesses, Public Sector bodies and financial institutions.
Alliance and Leicester Commercial Bank has a considerable franchise in the Public Sector market, with more than nine in every ten local authorities (94%) and 750 housing associations using the Bank's banking services.
Alliance and Leicester Commercial Bank handles around 70,000 council tax payments and 120,000 housing associations payments every day.
The bank is also a major funder to the NHS and local authority markets, providing funding for a diverse range of assets from MRI scanners in the NHS to IT funding with local government.
