Alliance and Leicester Commercial Bank (ALCB) has announced the appointment of Ray Ellis as Head of Commercial Property Finance.
Ray joins ALCB from Bradford and Bingley where he was Head of Sales, Property Finance and he has previously worked for a number of major banks, including LloydsTSB and HVB (formerly Hypo Bank).
Ray, who has over 25 years' commercial property finance experience, will be based at Alliance and Leicester's London offices and will be responsible for developing the bank's specialist commercial property business and implementing an ambitious growth strategy in the medium-term.
A key element of this strategy will be the expansion of the existing commercial property lending teams in London and Manchester, with significant recruitment planned in 2007 and 2008.
Bryce Glover, Director of Corporate Banking at Alliance and Leicester Commercial Bank said: "Alliance and Leicester is a major brand in retail property finance and in recent years we have established our commercial property finance franchise with a very experienced commercial property finance team".
"However, we aim to increase our profile, scope and scale in this sector and the appointment of such an experienced and senior figure as Ray Ellis highlights our commitment and aspirations".
"Ray will play a key role in developing Alliance and Leicester Commercial Bank's team, market profile and offering." Commenting on his new role, Ray Ellis said: "Alliance and Leicester's commitment and desire to develop its position in the commercial property market was one of the main reasons for my decision to take on this new role".
"The bank is a major UK brand and I believe there is a tremendous opportunity for us to increase its market position significantly with a compelling alternative offer and superior relationship management and service".
"I look forward to building the team and building on the success the bank has already achieved to position it as a leading provider of commercial property finance in the UK market.".
