Alliance and Leicester appoints director of intermediary sales

Alliance and Leicester today announces it is appointing Mark Blackwell as Director of Intermediary Sales, which builds on Leicester's success and commitment to the IntP>Alliance ermediary market.

Mark will be joining the group in the New Year when he will take responsibility for mortgage sales through brokers which are a key part of Alliance and Leicester's mortgage business.

Reporting to Raj Uppal, Director of Mortgage Operations, he will be managing the entire sales, distribution and operational areas.

Mark joins from Cheltenham and Gloucester where he is currently Acting Intermediary Sales Director.

Prior to this role, he spent two years as Marketing Director at Derbyshire Building Society, where he was responsible for the creation and launch of SALT, the Society's specialist lending brand.

A large part of Mark's early career was spent at the Skipton Building Society where he held a number of successful sales management roles.

He also had senior sales, marketing and credit roles with Portman and Staffordshire Building Societies.

Mark's first job was at NatWest, after which he spent three years at the Leeds and Holbeck Building Society.

Mark, 42, is married with two children and lives in Solihull in the West Midlands.
