Alliance and Leicester comments on the latest CML lending figures
Stephen Leonard, Director of Mortgages at Alliance and Leicester, said:
"The latest CML mortgage lending figures show an increase in the level of remortgage activity in September.
This shouldn't come as a surprise given that a significant number of home-owners have two year fixed mortgages that have been coming to an end.
"These latest figures indicate that people are shopping around for the best value deals on their mortgages.
This is also a general reflection on the choice of mortgages that are available and the ease with which borrowers can move their mortgage within the UK market to take advantage of the best product for their circumstances.".
