Alliance and Leicester launches a single
contact phone number for intermediaries
Alliance and Leicester has launched a single contact phone number for intermediary enquiries as part of its ongoing focus in 2008 to provide an efficient service to the intermediary market.
The new number will launch on Thursday 17 April and it replaces all existing contact numbers for Alliance and Leicester The introduction of the number is part of the bank's 'Programme of Transformation' which is looking at ways to improve and enhance communications with intermediaries

As part of the programme an e-welcome pack was launched at the end of last year for new broker contacts to provide them with a comprehensive introduction to the bank.
Jill Butterwood, Intermediary Transformation Manager at Alliance and Leicester, comments: "This is a much more straightforward system for intermediaries and, as they only need now to store one number in their phone for A and L, it puts us ahead of many of our competitors who are still operating complicated phone systems.
"From this one single number, there will be clear and concise options for intermediaries to choose to enable them to get to the right person and department as quickly and efficiently as possible.
"Intermediaries are a key part of our mortgage business and as such our service and commitment to them is a priority.
We continually review our processes to look at ways we can improve the way we do business and as of course broker feedback is very important.
We try and act on suggestions wherever possible and I am sure this new enhanced telephone service will be welcomed by them." Brokers can use the new number, which is 0844 8009999, from Thursday 17 April.
The previous contact telephone numbers they have for Alliance and Leicester will still be in use for approximately four weeks while the changeover takes place.
A recorded message will state the new telephone number once they are out of use.
Brokers will be notified of the change by email.
