Air now, song tomorrow

The Air Guitar World Championships is one of the most acknowledged Finnish events and in preparation for the event Allianz Musical Insurance are encouraging entrants to get their gloves on.

The 5th to 7th September will reveal how this once so absurd idea has bloomed into an international media event that attracts a wide international league of contestants, audience and media representatives to Oulu, Finland - now in its 12th year.

No equipment is needed, and there is no requirement for any specific place or special skills.

However when practising the routine contestants could use a pair of musical gloves to make sure they hit all the right notes - especially with the audience! John Feaver, marketing controller for Allianz Musical Insurance said: "If a constestant perfects his or her technique enough to become the world champion and wins the ultimate prize of a custom-made flying finn electric guitar worth around £2,500 after all their talented efforts, getting specialist insurance for such a treasured possession is a must!".
