Allianz Engineering has become the first UK Company to issue its complete workforce of engineer surveyors with an inspection industry health and safety passport,

helping to reduce the problems and time taken to gain access to construction sites.

Safety passports are used in various industries, notably construction, and require workers to gain a minimum level of health and safety knowledge before being issued with a passport and allowed access to the workplace.

The inspection industry scheme which Allianz supports comprises of 17 modules covering all the core activities of safety at work and a number of industry specific modules such as construction, quarries and manufacture, all workplace industries where Allianz engineer surveyors examine equipment.

Phil Wright, chief engineer, Allianz Engineering, said: "We are proud to be leading the way by supporting a single passport for engineer surveyors nationally.

Throughout various industries there are dozens of different passports, each of which require mandatory training in order to be compliant." He added: "With so many passport schemes in operation it is becoming increasingly difficult to regulate across different industries.

The purpose of the scheme is to provide an all-embracing passport for engineer surveyors to operate safely across the industries in which they work.".
