Allianz Commercial is pleased to announce the promotion of two former graduate scheme students.

Claire White, recently nominated in the young achiever category at this year's British Insurance Awards, has been appointed as executive assistant to Allianz Commercial's general manager, Chris Hanks.

In her new role, Claire will assist Chris in his leadership of the business, playing an integral part within the UK Executive team and working closely with the management board, account managers and branch colleagues.

Claire's replacement as manager of small business underwriting is former underwriting management scheme graduate, Paul Higham.

Paul joined the Allianz graduate programme in 2002 and has since held a variety of positions within the Commercial division.

He will be tasked with ensuring the small business account achieves its strategic goal of profitable growth by successfully managing the underwriting and segmentation of the account.

Commenting on her new role, Claire said: "I'm delighted to be furthering my understanding of Allianz and of the industry under the guidance of Chris Hanks.

I look forward to working closely with the Commercial executive team, which I'm sure will enable me to gain invaluable experience of how a large commercial insurer is managed.

Paul added: "Allianz has a strong culture of developing its staff and promoting from within its existing talent pool.

I look forward to the challenge of further developing my technical and managerial skills in my new role.
