Technical trials completed successfully
Barclaycard first stated its desire to introduce contactless technology to the UK in December last year and has since been working to develop a product that will help consumers make an easy transition to using this technology.
The card will help Londoners enjoy a more convenient lifestyle.
By offering Oyster, credit and cashless facilities, Barclaycard OnePulse gives Londoners the ability to buy everyday essentials such as coffee, a paper or Oyster travel as well as larger purchases such as a holiday abroad on one card rather than three.

The three uses of the card are: Oyster card Barclaycard OnePulse cardholders will enjoy the cheapest fares on the Transport for London network using Oyster exactly as they do today, either pre-loading pay as you go or a Travelcard or Bus Pass.
This is the first time that the Oyster technology, delivered by TranSys on behalf of Transport for London, has been licensed to a third party.
The Oyster functionality is entirely separate from the cardholder's credit card account, but sits on the same card.
Credit Barclaycard OnePulse cardholders will continue to enjoy the flexible credit and security of a standard chip and PIN credit card for larger transactions (over ?10), with 0% interest on purchases for six months and a competitive rate of 14.9% APR typical variable Cashless OneTouch payment, using UK contactless technology.
This allows cardholders to make low value purchases of £10 or under more quickly and conveniently with a single touch of their card against a reader instead of entering a PIN or signature, thus reducing their need to use and carry cash.
These transactions are listed on the cardholder's credit card statement Since the Barclaycard OnePulse name was unveiled in July, consumers have been able to pre-register their interest in the new card via the website http://www.barclaycard-onepulse.co.uk/.
More than 4,000 people have signed up for more information and will be among the first to receive application details.
The launch of the card is also accompanied by a £4 million marketing campaign which is themed 'Welcome to the Future' and seeks to communicate the unique benefits of the card to Londoners.
Shashi Verma, Transport for London Director of Fares and Ticketing, commented: "Since its launch in 2003 the Oyster card has proven to be a huge success with over 10 million cards now in circulation.
This innovative partnership with Barclaycard is another way that Oyster technology can make life more convenient for Londoners, providing them with not only cheaper, easier and more convenient travel but also the ability to make low cost transactions on everyday items." Launching the new card, Antony Jenkins, Chief Executive of Barclaycard, said: "Barclaycard is always looking to provide innovative products that make life easier for our customers.
In December 2006 we announced our desire to make cashless payments a reality in the UK and today, using our OneTouch payment technology, we realise that aim.
"This is the first UK credit card of its kind.
I am very excited to launch Barclaycard OnePulse and welcome Londoners to the future of payments in the capital.
Barclaycard OnePulse will make life easier and more hassle-free for those who live and work in and around London." Where to Use the Card Barclaycard OnePulse cardholders will be able to use the cashless functionality at thousands of retailers as OneTouch technology rolls out in the capital over the coming months.
Retailers already signed up to the new technology include Books Etc, Chop'd, Coffee Republic, EAT, Krispy Kreme, Threshers and YO! Sushi.
