Barclays stockbrokers reveals shareholder benefits with online guide
Over £500 off a new home, 20 per cent off Mulberry, 30 per cent off Eurotunnel routes are just some of the additional benefits available to the shareholders in a variety of UK listed companies.
A popular free guide to these 'perks' compiled by Barclays Stockbrokers is now available online at www.stockbrokers.barclays.co.uk/certificates.
The guide lists both the companies that provide benefits to all shareholders, including those that hold their shares through a nominee account (over 75 per cent of those featured in the guide), and those that restrict their perks to shareholders with share certificates.
Details are also provided about the minimum shareholdings required to qualify for the various benefits - 40 per cent of the companies listed stipulate no minimum shareholding.
At the time of publishing, the following were among the most generous benefits available to shareholders.
With no minimum shareholding: Signet Group - 10per cent discount in all Ernest Jones, H Samuel and Leslie Davis stores, Moss Bros Group - 20 per cent discount voucher on a single purchase in retails outlets (excluding reduced items), City Centre restaurants - 8 x 25 per cent discount vouchers for Garfunkel's and Frankie and Benny's amongst others, House of Fraser - discount vouchers, such as 10 per cent off a single transaction over £100, Trafficmaster - 10 per cent discount on products such as Smartnav, Legal and General - 10 per cent discount on insurance and life products.
With a minimum shareholding: Bloomsbury Publishing (publishers of Harry Potter) - 35 per cent discount on Bloomsbury books, EMAP - half price reductions on selected Emap titles, AGA Foodservice Group (1000 ordinary shares) - 10 per cent off all purchases of £500 or more up to a maximum of £500, Barratt Developments (1000 shares held for 12 months before purchase) - £500 discount on every £25,000 spent on a Barratt home, Bellway (2000 shares held for a minimum 12 months) - a discount of £625 per £25,000 on the cost of a new Bellway home, Eurotunnel (1000 shares for more than three months) - 30 per cent off three returns per year, Next (500 shares) - 25% off all purchases made on one occasion, Mulberry (500 shares) - 20 per cent discount at selected stores, Thorntons (200 shares) - various money off vouchers for use against purchases.
Taking advantage of shareholder benefits is easy with Barclays Stockbrokers.
As long as investors' shares are held in a Barclays Stockbrokers dealing account such as MarketMaster, Self Select ISA or PEP accounts, and shares are eligible, Barclays Stockbrokers can claim the benefit on investors'' behalf.
Amy Nauiokas, MD and Head of Barclays Stockbrokers comments: "Shareholder benefits alone are not a reason to buy shares but they are certainly an added bonus for those investors keen to own a slice of a company".
"This guide offers investors a quick and easy point of reference to the best offers out there - and as the guide show, there are some interesting and attractive benefits linked to many of the shares listed." To access the Benefits Guide, visit the www.stockbrokers.barclays.co.uk/certificates.
