A major top-to-toe refurbishment of Wimbledon's Heathland Court Care Centre, thanks to an investment of more than three-quarters of a million pounds by Bupa, is to be officially unveiled by Val Gooding, the company's chief executive, at a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the home's total transformation.
Every room at Heathland Court has received the makeover treatment and the very latest technology has been added to the care centre, with flat-screen TVs now in all the living areas, a Nintendo Wii installed so residents can play tennis, golf and bowls, and internet access introduced to each of the 72 bedrooms.
In addition the whole home has been given a new lick of paint, carpets, curtains, furniture and lighting.
Home manager, Avril Jones, said: "No stone has been left unturned in creating this brilliant new look and we're really proud of what has been achieved.
Heathland Court has been transformed and our residents love it." Bupa's chief executive, Val Gooding, said: "This home is a shining example of the multi-million pound investment programme Bupa is making across the UK care homes sector to help improve the standard of care for older people." Avril Jones and her team are keen to invite the local community to join them in celebrating the home's makeover and alongside the ribbon-cutting ceremony there will be a harp-player followed by a tea party.
