Wirral care home marks 21st anniversary with a £400,000 new look
Local Wirral care home, The Manor House, is celebrating its 21st anniversary with a £400,000 top-to-toe makeover, thanks to Bupa, the UK's largest owner and operator of care homes.
Dame Lorna Muirhead, Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside, will be helping residents, relatives and staff mark The Manor House's anniversary and new look at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday 25 April, when the results of the major refurbishment will be revealed.
Dame Muirhead will then plant a tree in the home's garden as a lasting reminder of the occasion.
Thanks to the investment by Bupa, the home now offers residents the very latest entertainment technology, with plasma TVs in their rooms to enjoy.
All nine bedrooms in the original building at the home are now also en-suite, there is a modern new reception area and the communal areas have been given a lick of paint, new carpets, curtains and furniture.
A new lighting system has also been introduced throughout the home, creating a bright new look.
The refurbishment is part of Bupa's drive to improve standards in the care home sector for the benefit of older people, and has proved a real hit with the residents of The Manor House.
Home manager Christine Varty said: "We are proud to celebrate our 21st year of caring for residents with a brand-new look.
We still have two members of staff - our head chef and one of our care assistants - that have worked here since the home first opened in 1987 which shows the level of commitment to Manor House and what a great place it is to work." Date: Friday 25 April 2008.
Time: 3pm.
Venue: The Manor House Nursing Home, Moreton Road, Upton, Wirral, Merseyside CH49 4NZ.
Occasion: A celebration with Dame Lorna Muirhead, Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside of The Manor House's 21st anniversary.
