BUPA invests over £1.5 million on Bristol care home
Facilities for older people in Bristol have been given a boost thanks to an investment of over £1.5 million by Bupa Care Services in local nursing home, Amerind Grove in Ashton.
This major project means an increase in capacity and services at the home, which now has an extra 21 en-suite bedrooms, 10 of which will be dedicated to those with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.
Thanks to the investment programme, Amerind Grove now also offers its residents the very latest entertainment technology, including large flat screen televisions in living areas for everyone to enjoy.
Its two dementia care units have also been linked by the addition of a new garden lounge, thereby extending activity facilities and day areas for residents.
The total number of people the home can now care for has risen to 171 across both its special dementia and nursing units.
The development has proved a real hit with the residents, families and staff at Amerind Grove and is part of BUPA's multi-million pound investment in the UK care homes sector, to help improve the standard of care for older people.
Home manager Daisy Matthews said: "We've been excited about the extension for some time and now that it is complete, we are really proud of the way things look and all the benefits the development gives to our residents.
The 'garden lounge' in particular is a great hit and means that our two dementia care units are now connected, making it easier for residents to socialise".
