A major makeover of Bupa's Holyport Lodge Nursing Home near Maidenhead has taken place, with more than ?450,000 spent on a top-to-toe refurbishment programme.

The transformation of the nursing home in Berkshire is part of Bupa's multi-million pound investment in the UK care homes sector, to help improve the standard of care for older people.

Holyport Lodge has an excellent rating from the care homes' regulator, the Commission for Social Care Inspection.

The redevelopment has seen all the rooms refurbished in keeping with the style of the home, retaining many of the original features of the Edwardian house.

New carpets, co-ordinated curtains, bedspreads and soft furnishings have given a fresh look to the traditional rooms.

Commenting on the transformation of the home, the new manager, Fiona Eccles said: "Holyport Lodge combines the best of country house living with modern comforts.

The home has always been much loved by all those who have lived here and now we can look to the future confident that we can offer the highest standards of facilities to our residents." The rooms, most of which are en-suite, also have flat screen televisions and there is internet access throughout the home.
