Edinburgh care homes receive ?1.5 million revamp
Older people in three Edinburgh nursing homes now have access to state-of-the art facilities thanks to an investment of more than ?1.5million by Bupa, a leading care home provider in Scotland.
Bupa's major investment combines modern technology with the latest research into care home design ensuring those needing specialised care receive the support they need.
Facilities at Bupa's three nursing homes Braidhills, Victoria Manor and Pentland Hills have been upgraded with the latest entertainment options through to specialist equipment giving residents greater independence and comfort.
While televisions in all the homes have been replaced with modern flat screens, Pentland Hills has also received a cinema room complete with lounge chairs, projector and styled in a 40's, 50's and 60's theme.
Bupa's Scottish regional manager Thomas Graham said: "Every detail has been considered in the design of the homes, including the selection of a best practice colour scheme to assist residents with dementia.
Our Braidhills home supports a specialist unit for young disabled adults requiring high levels of care," Mr Graham explained.
"The refurbishment here has seen the opening of a new customised physio gym, games consuls and a cafe; styled lounge with coffee bar giving the young adults a more suitable environment for their needs." To help residents retain their independence and provide the highest standards of care Bupa has installed fully manoeuvrable baths in each of the homes operated with a handset to control temperature and adjust the height for easier entry and exit.
Combined Bupa's three nursing homes, Braidhills, Victoria Manor and Pentland Hills provide care for more than 370 residents.
