Sutton Lodge Nursing Home in Weybridge is to celebrate its top-to-toe transformation on Wednesday 9 July, after a ?270,000 refurbishment by Bupa.

Ray King, the company's chief executive, will officially unveil the nursing home's striking new look at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for residents, relatives and staff.

Mr King will also be given a guided tour of the fully-refurbished nursing home, which now has flat-screen TVs and internet access in each of the home's 25 bedrooms.

In addition, all the paintwork, carpets, curtains, furniture and lighting have been refreshed by a local interior designer, and all the en-suite bathrooms upgraded.

After the ribbon cutting ceremony, celebrations will continue with a live jazz band in the garden and afternoon tea.

Bupa's chief executive, Ray King, said: "The new look for Sutton Lodge is a triumph for the staff and residents who live and work there.

Improving the standard of care for older people is so important and this is an excellent example of the multi-million pound investment programme Bupa is making across the UK care homes sector.

Home manager, Jackie Tout, said: "No stone has been left unturned in creating this brilliant new look and we're really proud of what has been achieved.

Sutton Lodge has been transformed and our residents love it.

In addition to its complete refurbishment, Sutton Lodge is also celebrating being awarded an excellent rating by the care homes' regulator, the Commission for Social Care Inspection.

One of the residents, 58-year-old Mary Lane, who has lived at Sutton Lodge for 10 years, said: "What I really loved about all the work and the changes going on, is that I was asked how I wanted my room to look.

I was so excited choosing the fabrics for my bedroom and watching it all being put together and the finished look is just lovely.
