Commercial property and shop insurance expand Direct Line's small business offering

Direct Line, which recently launched into commercial insurance, has added two new products to its portfolio; shop owners insurance and a commercial property product.

The shop insurance policy, developed for high street shop owners includes up to andpound;15,000 cover for perishable goods lost from storage equipment breakdown, up to andpound; 2,000 cover for goods damaged in transit plus up to andpound; 500,000 loss* of income.

The commercial property policy has been developed for buy to let owners and property investors with a portfolio of up to five properties.

Cover includes buildings and public liability plus various add on options, such as cover for landlords, contents and loss of rent if the property becomes unusable following a loss.
