Insurance-related tips:

1) Tell your motor insurer that you are married and save money - being married can often help reduce your premium as statistically, you're less likely to make a claim.

2) Make sure that you have ample home insurance contents cover - either to cover your new wedding gifts or your new spouse's contents if they've just moved in.

esure home insurance offers a 10% increase in contents cover for policyholders and their family members 4 weeks before and 4 weeks after the wedding day.

3) Newlyweds who are looking to decorate their new home or undertake some serious DIY should check that they have opted for accidental damage cover so as not to be stung with a potentially hefty bill.

4) Have your engagement ring valued every 3 years - and it'll need to be a specified item on your policy if it's over ?1500.

5) Don't forget to include the wedding rings on your insurance policy.

6) Do you have cover away from the home? - if not your wedding presents at a venue may not be covered or whilst they're being transported home.

Non-insurance related tip: 1) Pay for extra copies of your marriage certificate - this will help the 'bride' to change her name more quickly as 'originals' are often required by finance companies.

They are often returned using 'special delivery' which requires a signature - so those who are at work when the postman arrives will need to make numerous trips to their local past office which can cause delays.

esure's cover: esure's home insurance contents cover will automatically increase by 10% for four weeks before and four weeks after the wedding, which allows time for the married couple to re-evaluate and arrange their contents cover accordingly after the big day.
