Gartmore expands UK equity capability with new appointment

Gartmore is pleased to announce the appointment of Luke Newman as Portfolio Manager to its UK team.

He joins on 29 June and will work with Ben Wallace on the recently launched Gartmore UK Absolute Return and award-winning AlphaGen Octanis Funds.

Luke's nine years of industry experience have encompassed fund management roles managing UK equity long only and long/short funds at Deutsche Asset Management, Foreign and Colonial and most recently, Altima Partners LLP.

Commenting on the appointment, Dominic Rossi, Chief Investment Officer at Gartmore, said: "In order to ensure the continued success of our UK hedge and absolute return business, we recognised the need to strengthen our UK equity resources.

Luke is a highly skilled long only and long/short manager and his experience is a perfect fit with Ben Wallace's proven investment process.

Luke's appointment is yet another example of Gartmore's commitment to develop our investment capabilities in order to meet both the performance and service needs of our clients.
