Insight Investment today announces the appointment of Matthew McKelvey as head of equity product management reporting to Sandy Black, head of equities at Insight Investment.

McKelvey will join Insight in June from Fidelity International where he is investment director for global equities.

He will work alongside our client and sales teams in representing Insight's global, European and UK equities products, as well as driving product design and range.

McKelvey began his career in 1986 with Mercury Asset Management, now part of BlackRock Investment Management.

During his time there, he rose through various departments becoming marketing manager, and eventually director, product specialist and business manager for the London-based global equity team.

He is an associate of the UK Society of Investment Professionals.

Commenting on McKelvey's appointment, Sandy Black, head of equities, said: "Matthew brings substantial experience to this role and will help us capitalise on the performance momentum our team is generating.

The global equity track record over the last three years is excellent, 2007 has started well and our equities team is upbeat.

There is growing interest in our global product range and our absolute return range of funds.

"Our objective is to provide excellent investment returns from long-only and long/short equity portfolios.

We believe that the current structure of our equities platform combining active and passive components is a differentiator and that by bringing together precision and diversification we can achieve our own and our clients' objectives.".
