moneysupermarket.com comments on Scottish Power's price reduction
Commenting on Scottish Power's price reduction to their online capped dual fuel product, Paul Schofield, head of utilities at moneysupermarket.com, said:
"Scottish Power has avoided the main issue by electing to reduce prices on what is essentially a niche product; a capped, online, dual fuel offering".
""This cut does make Scottish Power the cheapest for capped deals at GBP861.251, although consumers would be very foolish to swap to a capped product at present, with price cuts happening on an almost daily basis.
Although this type of product prevents customers from future price hikes until May 2008, such increases are very unlikely; I would urge people to think twice before considering this deal.
"This product will fall in price if their standard tariff falls, but when online tariffs such as npower's Sign Online are available, at GBP780.762 for the average dual fuel customer, why would you want to choose a capped deal? This reduction of GBP50 for the average bill is the least that customers deserve." moneysupermarket.com is making a stand to help people ditch their expensive power companies and get the cheapest energy deal by offering GBP30 cash-back to all customers swapping to a dual fuel tariff through its service.
Those not going for a dual fuel tariff but changing a provider or tariff will benefit from a single GBP17.50 payment3.
