moneysupermarket.com comments on the announcement of the 'Barclaycard Breathe' card
Commenting on the announcement of the 'Barclaycard Breathe' card, Stuart Glendinning, managing director at price comparison site moneysupermarket.com said:
"It's only been a matter of time waiting for personal finance providers to latch on to green issues.
People won't apply for a credit card solely because the card is green.
We don't yet know the full product criteria so we'll need to see the product terms at launch but there is plenty of anecdotal evidence to suggest there is strong appetite amongst consumers for products that are genuinely green.
"People with significant credit card balances that are paying high interest amounts should focus on reducing debt rather than carbon but for other consumers I am sure this will, with the right terms, prove popular.
Amex Red is aimed at consumers with a social conscience and Barclaycard is now leading the way into environmentalism.
This is just the start, other providers will follow.".
