Commenting on the likely takeover of the AA by Saga, Richard Mason, director of insurance at moneysupermarket.com, said:

"Saga has been very successful in retailing financial services on product features rather than price.

This is very important in today's market where consumers are able to find the lowest cost-price product in minutes.

The AA, too, doesn't have the lowest priced products but it is renowned for service.

"This is therefore a perfect match and it will be interesting to see how the promotion of the AA's products develops.

Saga recently announced a move into price comparison for the over 50s; I would now envisage an AA-branded aggregator catering for all adults.".
