Two bedrooms and 'a study'?
With anyone selling a three bedroom home now having to apply for a HIP, Louise Cuming, head of mortgages at price comparison site moneysupermarket.com, said:
"Today's initiative simply adds to the shambles that the HIP legislation has become".
""Amid all the chaos surrounding HIPs, the Government has introduced yet another amendment that will only confuse matters further.
Anyone searching for a three bedroom home might have to look much harder, with a sudden glut of adverts for two bedroom houses with a large study! The Government should bite the bullet and admit, in their current format, HIPs are a disaster.
"The concept behind HIPs was plausible, but all the constant watering down and fiddling of the legislation means it has become nothing but a political slurry".
"It will be of absolutely no benefit to consumers if it isn't radically overhauled.".
