Commenting on Coventry Building Society extending its esaver account to the over 50s, Kevin Mountford, head of savings at price comparison site moneysupermarket.com, said:

"Coventry Building Society has been shaking up the 'silver surfer' market with its internet-only esaver account for the over 60s".

"But with those in their 50s being one of the most attractive customer segments, it has now relaxed the age criteria to those aged 50+".

"It is good to see Coventry taking another step in the right direction - at 6.4 per cent and with easy access, this is a market-leading deal alongside Bradford and Bingley's Internet Saver.".
