moneysupermarket.com comments on the
Government's commitment to spend more on
flood defences
Commenting on the Government's commitment to spend more on flood defences, Richard Mason, director of insurance at moneysupermarket.com, said:
"The Government has been pledging its commitment to flood defences for many years and has now promised to spend ?800 million by 2010" "This is only ?50 million more than its previous guarantee"
""We need to see action as empty promises will be of little comfort to those people who saw their possessions floating down the road earlier this year.
Those floods confirmed how important the construction of defences are".
""My advice is to stick with the big brand insurers who are less likely to pull out of covering you if you have a flooding catastrophe".
"It is essential to shop around for cover that will suit your needs so you can get the insurance deal that suits you.".
