Commenting on the launch of its pay as you go comparison tool on Tuesday 16 October, Rob Barnes, head of mobiles at moneysupermarket.com said:

"Pay as you go phones account for 50 per cent* of all new and existing mobile connections in the UK.

With this in mind we have added a dedicated pay as you go area to our website.

"Low cost handsets and no annual contract make pay as you go mobiles an attractive option if you are a lower user, for example using 100 minutes and 50 texts per month, or if you only have your mobile phone for emergencies.

Pay as you go phones are also great for parents that want their children to have a mobile phone without receiving monthly bills.

"Comparing hundreds of deals from Carphone Warehouse, main online retailers as well as deals direct from the networks the channel will allow users to find the cheapest phone on the best tariff for them, based on their usage.

It will also be the only comparison site to enable customers to compare a pay as you go tariff against a pay monthly one to see which offers the best value for money.

"The launch of this tool allows us to cater for all types of mobile users and will further our reach as a leading price comparison website.".
