moneysupermarket.com comments on Ofgem's
latest energy swapping figures

Commenting on Ofgem's latest energy swapping figures, Scott Byrom, utilities expert at moneysupermarket.com, said:

It is encouraging to see an increase in the number of people changing gas and electricity providers in the first seven months of this year With 2.8 million* people swapping, it demonstrates consumers are becoming increasingly savvy and cottoning onto the savings that can be made

For example an average customer from the South East moving from Powergen's Standard tariff to British Gas Click Energy 4 could make a saving of 130 per year on their energy bill.

The gas and electricity market is increasingly competitive, highlighted by the recent price war between British Gas and Scottish and Southern.

However, some consumers remain hesitant about swapping provider, believing it is too complicated.

I would advise these customers to take the plunge and shop around, as it is highly likely they will be paying too much for their energy.

moneysupermarket.com is helping people ditch their expensive tariffs, and get the cheapest energy deal by offering 30 cashback to all customers swapping to a dual fuel tariff through its service.

Those changing their gas or electricity will get a single 17.50 payment.
