Guided Option hospitals now exceed 100

A Standard Life Healthcare product story
Edited by the Insidemoneytalk editorial team Sep 6, 2007

Standard Life Healthcare's popular Guided Option now has more than double the number of hospitals it originally launched with at the end of last year

Including the entire network of BMI hospitals from 1 July, Guided Option is a special arrangement with BMI, BUPA, Capio and some Nuffield hospitals which lowers the cost of PMI from Standard Life Healthcare by 15%.

If combined with other features such as the company's NCD and excess options, the cost of its comprehensive cover could be cut by as much as 55%.* Guided Option is simply a different way to refer clients for treatment, that uses the expertise of the hospital concerned to manage a patient's treatment from beginning to end.

This allows them to make better use of their resources - enabling them to reduce charges and produce a saving which can be passed on to Standard Life Healthcare customers, both individual and corporate.

Ultimate choice rests with the customer and if they wish to retain the ability to nominate a consultant themselves or be treated at a non-Guided Option hospital, then they can still do this by simply choosing not to have it on their plan.

Mike Hall, Chief Executive of Standard Life Healthcare, said: "We welcome BMI hospitals and those Nuffield hospitals which have joined us since Guided Option was launched, enabling us to offer this way of reducing premiums to a far greater number of our customers around the UK.

Clients are understandably looking for ways to reduce PMI costs and we are thrilled to have been able to utilise the changes happening in the wider health market for the benefit of all of our PMI customers.".
