British Gas projected to make almost £640 million in profits [1] - more than six times the £95 million it made in 2006. A month ago it put prices up by 15% or £139 for customers[2]...

What this means[1]: 2007 projected profits show a 573% increase on the previous year British Gas' profit margin estimated to increase from 1.3% to 10.5%

The cost of buying gas predicted to have decreased from £3.3bn in 2006 to £1.9 billion in 2007- a 40% decrease[3].

Projections suggest that British Gas will see its profit per customer increase fivefold from £5.93 to £39.92.
