uSwitch.com comments on Ofgem's 65 day consultation announcement
Ann Robinson, Director of Consumer Policy at uSwitch.com,
comments on Ofgem's announcement of a consultation regarding the 65 day statutory time limit for energy suppliers to inform customers of price increases.
"Ofgem's announcement is welcome news for every energy customer.
Currently, energy suppliers have 65 days in which to inform their customers that they have increased their prices.
"While it is virtually unheard of for a supplier to take the full 65 days there is still room for improvement and a shorter timeframe would definitely be a step in the right direction.
"Tighter rules would allow consumers to enjoy greater clarity and transparency, however it's also important that the rules are easy for suppliers to implement.
"Consumers should make sure they review their energy bills regularly to make sure they are on the best value deal for their needs.
